How to Get OpenAI Dots: Setup Guide
Can I create a dot on my phone?
No. OpenAI says you can't create a dot on mobile and that dots aren't supported on mobile web. Create it on desktop, then message it from the ChatGPT mobile app.
Does my dot need access to my computer?
No. Your dot has its own cloud computer. Access to your own computer is optional and starts turned off. You can turn it on or revoke it in the ChatGPT desktop app.
Can my dot have its own email address?
Not at launch. You can connect your personal email so your dot can use it for your tasks, but OpenAI says you can't give it a standalone address yet.
How do I delete or reset my dot?
Open your dot's profile, select the ••• menu, then select Reset. This deletes its conversations, saved memories and scheduled tasks, so read the notice before you confirm.
Is OpenAI Dots Free? Who Can Use It
Is there a free trial for OpenAI dots?
OpenAI hasn't announced a free trial. It did say usage limits are extended for the first month after launch, but only for people who already have an eligible plan.
Can I use dots on the Go plan?
No. According to reports, the Free and Go plans don't include dots. OpenAI only lists Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise.
Do I pay extra for my first dot?
No. OpenAI says your first dot is included in your Pro or Business Premium plan at no extra cost. Extra dots and faster dots are planned, but there is no price yet.

Is there an open-source version of OpenAI dots?
Not an exact copy. OpenClaw and Hermes Agent are open-source personal agents that you host yourself and connect to chat apps. They do similar jobs, but they are different products.
Are OpenClaw and Hermes really free?
The software is free. You still pay for the AI model you connect (or run a local model) and for the computer that hosts it.
Are open-source agents safe?
It depends on what you add to them. Reports say OpenClaw's public skill marketplace has had malware campaigns, so check what you install.
What is the cheapest way to try an always-on agent?
Meta Muse's free plan, if you're in the US or Canada. Otherwise, a self-hosted agent.

Is there an OpenAI dots app?
There is no separate dots app. Dots are part of ChatGPT. Use the ChatGPT desktop app or ChatGPT on the web to create one, and the mobile app to talk to it afterward.
Do I need a different account for dots?

OpenAI Dots Not Available? UK, EU & Fixes
Why does my Pro account say I'm not eligible for dots?
The most common reasons are your country (OpenAI's release notes say Pro access excludes the EEA, Switzerland and the UK at launch) or the gradual rollout. Some users on Reddit also report the message on Pro accounts. OpenAI hasn't published an explanation.
Can I use dots in the UK or EU?
Not on a Pro plan right now, according to reports. Business Premium users are reported to have access in all supported regions. OpenAI hasn't given a date for Pro in the UK, EEA or Switzerland.
Should I use a VPN to get dots?
We don't recommend it and we don't cover it. Wait for OpenAI to open your country, or check whether a Business Premium workspace is an option for you.
Can I set up dots on my phone?
No. You must create your dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or on desktop web. After that you can talk to it in the mobile app.

Why did my dot stop replying?
It may be paused. Open its profile, select the ••• menu, and check for Paused. If it says Paused, tap to resume.
Can I make my dot start over?
Yes, with Reset in the ••• menu of its profile. Reset deletes its conversations, saved memories and scheduled tasks, so only use it as a last step.
Does OpenAI say dots can be wrong?
Yes. OpenAI says dots can make mistakes, including when following your rules, and tells users to check important details before relying on the result.
Will OpenAI Dots Come to Plus? What We Know
Is there a release date for dots on Plus?
No. OpenAI's only public statement is that it plans to expand dots to more users soon.
Will free users get dots?
OpenAI hasn't said. 'More users' could mean Plus, Go, Free, more countries, or all of them.
Why is dots only on expensive plans?
OpenAI hasn't explained. Each dot has its own cloud computer, and the plan includes an allowance for deeper work, which may be part of the reason. That's our guess, not OpenAI's statement.
Can I pay to get dots on a lower plan?
No. You'd need to be on Pro or Business Premium. Extra dots, faster dots and bigger allowances are planned as add-ons, but not for lower plans.

Does the $100 Pro plan include dots?
Yes, as far as OpenAI's pricing page shows: dots is listed under Pro, and the three tiers differ in usage (and Ultrafast, which is Pro 500 only), not in features. Some Reddit users say they see 'not eligible' on Pro. That is more likely your country or the gradual rollout than your tier, but OpenAI hasn't said.
How much does an extra dot cost?
There is no price yet. OpenAI says you'll be able to add more dots, or increase a dot's speed or monthly workload, but it hasn't announced what that costs.
What happens after the first month?
OpenAI raised the limits for the first month after launch and says it will share the terms for each plan afterward. The details aren't out yet.
Is dots cheaper on an annual plan?
Business Premium seats are $100 per user per month billed annually ($125 billed monthly). Pro is billed monthly only. OpenAI hasn't announced prices for extra dots.

Can my dot read all my email?
Only if you connect it. You can connect your personal email so your dot can use it for tasks, and your dot can also review connected apps in the background to look for ways to help. Check each app's permissions before you connect it.
Are my dot's chats used to train OpenAI models?
On personal ChatGPT plans you can control whether your dot's conversations and work are used to improve models. OpenAI says it does not use Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace content that way by default.
Can my dot buy things without asking?
That depends on your rules. In Custom rules you choose whether your dot takes an action without asking, only if pre-approved, asks first, or hands it back to you.
What happens if I delete my dot?
Reset deletes its conversations, saved memories and scheduled tasks. Disconnecting an app does not delete what the dot already learned from it.

Does a dot replace ChatGPT agent?
OpenAI hasn't said so. It describes dots as a new way to work with AI that stays on and gets to know you. Both exist as separate features.
Is dots the same as Codex?
No. Codex is OpenAI's coding tool. A dot can start and manage Codex tasks for you, and those tasks count toward your usage limits as usual.
